About me
I am an Associate Professor of Surgery, and my clinical practice comprises urologic cancer surgery and kidney and pancreas transplantation. I have been a staff surgeon and continuously in this role for nearly 24 years. With respect to my clinical practice, I perform approximately 400 procedures per year, both open surgical and minimally invasive approaches. I also regularly see patients on an outpatient basis, where I guide their follow up and manage medical issues.
In addition to my clinical practice, I serve as the director of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) accredited kidney and pancreas transplant fellowship program. My role involves training post-graduate surgical fellows in kidney and pancreas transplant surgery and care of patients undergoing such organ transplants. Since 2000, I have played a significant role in training over 25 post-graduate fellows, many of whom have gone on to direct surgical programs. Lastly, my research has been focused on surgical techniques of pancreas transplantation as well as surgical techniques for locally advanced renal cell carcinoma.
